Tradition of machine building in the factory in Hradec Králové – Plotiště nad Labem is quite long. The
factory himself, with advantageous location out of town build – up area, has been found in 1942.
Since the 1953 the main production program was development and production of diesel engines, including
foundry production of gray cast iron and magnesium alloy. Has been exported thousands engines
of various types and designs to the whole world, with trademarks Škoda and Slavia, at the beginning, and
with trademark ČKD since 1973. The company was a part of ČKD Praha Holding a.s. holding group since 1990.
Since 2002 the production program was continued by BEZ Motory a.s. company and in 2008 development and
production of engines was discontinued.

In 2009 service and production of spare parts for formerly manufactured types of engines has been assumed
by a company BM Services, s.r.o.
